Who We Are

MusicWise is a free service for musicians to find and book rehearsal studios, recording studios, music courses, music shops, and music lessons. Behind MusicWise is a group of friendly people, and you can meet us below. We are a group of musicians, tech professionals, and industry leaders, and together we are on a mission to help you play more.

Joe McRoberts, Founder

Hi, I’m Joe, the Founder of MusicWise. I’ve played the drums for 18 years, and have spent the last 10 years growing tech startups. I created MusicWise to help musicians play more music.

I founded MusicWise in Soho, London, in 2019 (when it was called Rehearsal Booker) to make rehearsal studio booking easier. The whole rehearsal studio booking process seemed unnecessarily difficult to me: phoning loads of studios to find a free slot, finding that the equipment was often broken, and having to pay in cash. So in the same way that Airbnb helps people book accommodation easily, MusicWise was born to help you book music studios easily.

Skip forward to today and 31,000 musicians use MusicWise to book studios online. I’m really grateful to everyone who has booked with us. And this is just the beginning! We are adding music shops, music courses, and music tutors to MusicWise, to give you as a musician everything you need in one place.

Luke Tomlin, Co-Founder

Hi there - I’m Luke, and I build (and occasionally break) things. I also play the bass (although I’d say I’m a drummer at heart). I've spent over 10 years working in a broad range of technology sectors, ranging from big-data with Palantir, to high-frequency trading with XTX Markets.

Like Joe, I’ve experienced the pain of trying to find local studios, and wrestled with my fair share of misleading websites, terrible booking systems, and poor service. With that in mind, I'm hoping to bring my skills to the task of making making-music easier.
